A man died on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after a pickup truck collided with a big rig on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Sun Valley. The crash happened around 11:06 a.m., just south of Sheldon Street. A second person was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Authorities had not released the name of the person who died.
MyNewsLA reported that the pickup allegedly ran into the back of the big rig, and ABC7 Los Angeles said aerial video showed the pickup partially wedged under the rear of the trailer. The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert closing two northbound lanes, traffic was diverted off the freeway, and backups stretched to Glenoaks Boulevard. ABC7 reported that additional details about what led up to the crash were not available.
