A man died early Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene in Stockton’s Bear Creek District, according to police. The crash was reported at about 2:20 a.m. at the intersection of Wagner Heights Road and Single Tree Court on the city’s north side. First responders took the victim to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His identity had not been released as of Thursday, and investigators say they have no description of the vehicle or driver involved.
According to FOX40 Sacramento, the Stockton Police Department’s traffic investigations unit is leading the inquiry into the fatal hit-and-run. Stocktonia News reported that officers have not shared any details about the suspected driver or vehicle, and no arrests had been announced as of Thursday. Police have not said whether any road closures were put in place while investigators worked the scene. Detectives are asking anyone with information, or surveillance or dashcam footage from the area, to contact the Stockton Police Department.
