Seven people, including a Los Angeles Fire Department firefighter, were injured Sunday afternoon, September 13, 2026, when an LAFD ladder truck responding to an emergency call with lights and sirens activated collided with several civilian vehicles in South Los Angeles. The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Figueroa Street and 120th Street in the Vermont Vista neighborhood. The fire truck ended up lodged in the front of a sports bar near a laundromat after the collision. One person had to be extricated from a vehicle, and all seven injured were transported to area hospitals.
According to ABC7 Los Angeles, LAFD Captain Anthony Tubbs said the crash caused “pretty significant damage to our apparatus, as well as a couple civilian vehicles, enough to result in seven individuals who needed to be transported.” Hoodline reported that the intersection was closed for several hours while the fire truck was towed and that the Los Angeles Police Department opened an investigation into what caused the collision. As of the latest reports, no further details on the cause had been released and LAPD’s investigation remained ongoing.
