One person was killed late Wednesday night, Sept. 23, 2026, in a multi-vehicle crash on the eastbound 91 Freeway in Long Beach, just west of the 710 Freeway interchange. According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Tesla and a burgundy Honda collided around 10:19 p.m., and two additional vehicles may have also been involved. CHP said a person may have been in the middle of the roadway at the time of the collision, though investigators have not confirmed whether that individual was the person who died. All eastbound lanes were shut down under a SigAlert for roughly three and a half hours before reopening around 1:51 a.m. Thursday.
The Long Beach Post reported that CHP officers responded to the scene and are continuing to investigate exactly how the crash unfolded, including whether a person in the roadway played a role. MyNewsLA similarly reported that the person pronounced dead at the scene had not been publicly identified as of Thursday morning, and that CHP had not disclosed whether that person was the same one reported to have been in the roadway. No further details about the drivers, vehicle speeds or cause of the collision have been released. Beverly Law extends its condolences to everyone affected by this tragedy and is closely following the investigation.
