A 55-year-old Los Angeles woman died Sunday afternoon in a head-on crash on Cuddy Valley Road near Frazier Park, in Kern County. The California Highway Patrol says the woman was driving a Toyota Echo westbound when her car drifted off the right side of the roadway, then overcorrected back across the center line into the path of an eastbound Ford F-250 pickup truck. The truck’s driver, a 57-year-old Frazier Park resident, tried to steer out of the way but was unable to avoid the collision. The woman, the sole occupant of her car, was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
KBAK reported that CHP was called to the scene around 2:20 p.m. on Cuddy Valley Road, west of Ivins Road. According to the outlet, the truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, and CHP said drugs and alcohol were not factors for him; it was not reported whether toxicology testing was conducted for the woman who died. KBAK’s report did not indicate whether Cuddy Valley Road was fully closed during the investigation. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the CHP Fort Tejon Area office at (661) 248-6655.
