According to KGET, citing the California Highway Patrol, the Toyota was traveling southbound when its driver, a man from Arvin, allegedly made an unsafe turning movement, crossed the broken yellow lines and entered the northbound lane, striking the Honda. KGET reports the Toyota driver had moderate injuries and the Honda driver, a woman, had major injuries. What the Law Says

California Vehicle Code 21650 requires drivers to stay on the right half of the roadway, with limited exceptions. When a driver crosses into oncoming traffic and causes a collision, this rule is often central to deciding who was at fault.

California Vehicle Code 23152 prohibits driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If impairment contributed to a crash, it can affect both criminal charges and civil claims for injuries or wrongful death. Families and injured people may have legal options, and time limits apply.
