Hit-and-Run Crash Leaves Riverside High School Student Hospitalized
A hit-and-run crash on Victoria Avenue near Myrtle Street in Riverside left a 15-year-old Riverside Polytechnic High School student hospitalized in critical condition. The teen was allegedly struck by a pickup truck while crossing in a marked crosswalk on the afternoon of Friday, September 4, 2026. The driver reportedly fled the scene without stopping to render aid or exchange information. Riverside police later arrested a 47-year-old Bloomington man on suspicion of felony hit-and-run after identifying him through witness tips and license plate reader data.
According to KTLA, the crash was reported at the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Myrtle Street around 3:39 p.m., just blocks from the high school. The outlet reported that the suspect had been driving a beige pickup truck and was allegedly making a left turn when he struck the student before speeding away. KTLA reported that the suspect turned himself in to police on September 10 and was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center. The student reportedly remains hospitalized as she recovers from her injuries.
