A 23-year-old man died after a single-vehicle crash just after midnight Saturday in Victorville, and investigators believe alcohol was a factor, according to a written statement from the Victorville Police Department. The crash was reported at approximately 12:07 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, in the area of Seventh Avenue and Lindero Street. Investigators determined that a white Dodge Ram was traveling north on Seventh Avenue in the number one lane when, for reasons still under investigation, it crossed into the southbound lanes, continued toward the western curb and collided with a fence and block wall.
Updated August 25, 2026: The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office has identified the driver killed as Jarett Jesse James Juarez, a 23-year-old resident of Victorville, in coroner case 702605703. The coroner’s office states that Juarez was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead at 12:51 a.m. following the collision at Seventh Avenue and Lindero Street. Victor Valley News reported that the Victorville Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team assumed the investigation and that investigators believe alcohol was a factor. No arrest or citation has been reported, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
As reported by Victor Valley News and KTLA, firefighters found the driver trapped inside the pickup with his leg pinned and worked to extricate him from the wreckage, which showed heavy front-end and driver’s-side damage. The man sustained major injuries and was transported to Providence St. Mary Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased, police said. Investigators said alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the collision. The man’s identity has not been released pending notification of family, and the investigation remains ongoing.
