A crash involving three cars and a semi-truck blocked multiple lanes of northbound I-5 in Seattle on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 20, 2026. The collision happened around 2:55 p.m. just north of the South Michigan Street exit, near Boeing Field. The semi’s driver-side fuel tank was reportedly damaged, and diesel leaked onto the roadway. Multiple people were hurt, according to the Seattle Fire Department.
FOX 13 Seattle reported that multiple lanes stayed blocked for several hours while crews cleaned up the fuel, and that all lanes reopened around 8:15 p.m. KIRO 7 reported that a Washington State Patrol trooper said one person had a broken arm, and that WSDOT listed the HOV lane and the two right lanes as closed. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and no fault has been officially determined.
