Fugitive Driver Arrested After Deadly Wrong-Way I-90 Crash Near George, WA
A wrong-way crash on Interstate 90 near George, Washington killed two 23-year-old women and left three other people injured on August 8, 2026. Washington State Patrol says a black Dodge Charger was headed eastbound in the westbound lanes near milepost 151, about seven miles west of George in Grant County, when it collided head-on with a white Chevrolet Tahoe that was towing a boat. The driver of the Charger, identified as Brayan Reyes-Alvarez, 24, of Seattle, allegedly fled after the crash and remained a fugitive for about a month before U.S. Marshals and Washington State Patrol investigators tracked him down in Seattle on September 8, 2026. He now faces two counts of vehicular homicide.
According to NonStop Local KHQ, investigators believe impairment contributed to the crash, and neither of the two women killed in the Charger — identified by troopers as Yesenia Acosta-Delgado, 23, of Tacoma, and a second 23-year-old Tacoma woman whose name has not been publicly released — was wearing a seatbelt. The driver and passenger of the Tahoe, a couple from Kent in their 70s, were also hurt and were treated for their injuries. When officers located Reyes-Alvarez in Seattle, he allegedly tried to escape by jumping from a second-story window before he was taken into custody. Washington State Patrol has not detailed how long westbound I-90 was affected while troopers processed the scene, and the case remains under investigation.
