A crash on Business 35 North near the Rockport Municipal Airport left two people dead and another critically injured on the evening of Saturday, September 19, 2026. Emergency crews from Rockport and Fulton were called to the scene around 5:30 p.m., and HALO Flight helicopters along with Allegiance EMS ambulances responded to carry the injured to area hospitals. One person died at the scene, and a second victim who was initially listed in critical condition later died at a local hospital. A third person remains in critical condition. Business 35 was closed for a stretch between Rockport and Aransas Pass while crews worked the scene, and TxDOT said the roadway is expected to reopen Thursday around 5 p.m., weather permitting.
According to KRIS 6 News, the Fulton Police Department is leading the investigation into what caused the crash, with support from the Aransas County Sheriff’s Office, the Rockport Police Department and Texas DPS. The outlet reported that the cause of the collision has not yet been released and that authorities have not publicly identified the victims. 3News (KIII) similarly reported that the crash left one person dead and two others critically injured, with one of the critical patients later succumbing to their injuries. Drivers between Rockport and Aransas Pass are being asked to plan for detours until repairs and the investigation are complete.
