A Grand Prairie police pursuit ended in a chain-reaction crash on eastbound Interstate 30 near Six Flags Boulevard late Saturday, September 5, 2026, sending at least seven people to area hospitals. Officers were chasing a sedan when the driver collided with several vehicles near the State Highway 161 interchange, flipping at least one car onto its roof. Among those hurt were three teenagers, including a 17-year-old girl who had been driving home from a concert in Fort Worth with friends. Grand Prairie police say the driver accused of causing the wreck was intoxicated and now faces charges including DWI, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and collision involving injury.
FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth reported that the teen’s father, Ben Guthrie, described arriving at the scene to find his daughter’s car resting upside down roughly 30 feet off the shoulder, surrounded by dozens of first responders. Dallas Express reported that lane closures on eastbound I-30 caused significant backups into Saturday night as Arlington police helped Grand Prairie officers manage traffic. Guthrie said his daughter underwent scans for internal injuries at the hospital before being released. Grand Prairie police have not disclosed why the sedan was initially being pursued, and the investigation remains active.
