A Fort Bliss soldier has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed 37-year-old Erica Suann Garcia in Far East El Paso, Texas. Pfc. Harmony Adynasty McNair, a fire control specialist with the Army’s 1st Armored Division, was booked on September 11 after a grand jury indicted her in July on one count of collision involving death. Investigators say McNair, driving a 2025 Kia K4, struck Garcia while she was crossing Tim Foster Street outside a crosswalk or controlled intersection near Pebble Hills High School on February 8, then left the scene without helping her or waiting for authorities. Garcia was rushed to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries. McNair is being held on a $20,000 bond.
According to KTSM 9 News, the case was presented to a grand jury months after the February crash before McNair was formally charged with collision involving death. KFOX14 reported that Fort Bliss confirmed McNair’s arrest, saying the Army “take[s] these matters seriously and are cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities” as the case moves through the civilian justice system. Neither outlet reported any road closures tied to the arrest, since the crash itself happened seven months earlier. The criminal case against McNair remains pending in El Paso County.
