A 40-year-old man died early Sunday morning after his vehicle rolled over on US-90 in east Harris County near Crosby, Texas. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the driver was traveling eastbound around 4:05 a.m. when he failed to stay in his lane, left the roadway, and struck a guardrail and a cement wall, causing the car to flip. Crosby Fire Department crews extricated the driver from the wreckage, and Life Flight airlifted him to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is continuing to investigate what caused the driver to leave the roadway.
ABC13 Houston reported that the driver, identified as Paul Escobar, was behind the wheel of a 2020 Toyota Camry when the crash occurred near the 20700 block of US-90. Hoodline reported that emergency crews also had to block eastbound lanes near the FM 2100 intersection while they worked the scene, and that TxDOT’s Houston office was notified of guardrail damage. Investigators have not yet said what allegedly caused Escobar to leave the travel lane. Rollover crashes on this stretch of US-90 have raised concerns among nearby residents, as another critical crash was reported on the same corridor in August.
