On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at about 10:45 a.m., a Nissan Altima merging onto Interstate 20 from the U.S. 287 ramp in Arlington, Texas, struck an eastbound semitractor-trailer. The car ended up trapped between the trailer and the concrete barrier on the right side of the highway. Police said the Altima’s driver was taken to a local hospital, and the 18-wheeler’s driver was not hurt.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the injured driver, who has not been publicly identified, has a severe concussion and has been unable to use his legs since the crash. The outlet reports firefighters cut him out of the car, that he was flown to a hospital, and that he was later moved to an in-patient rehabilitation facility. The Star-Telegram also reports that Arlington police concluded the car’s driver failed to yield, while the truck driver told officers he could not move over because another truck was in the adjacent lane. A lawsuit filed October 6 in Dallas County allegedly accuses the trucking company, the truck’s owner and the driver of negligence, which the company has not commented on.
