A bicyclist was killed Sunday night in a hit-and-run collision in Visalia, California, at the intersection of Ferguson Avenue and Dinuba Boulevard. Officers responded around 7:48 p.m. and found an adult man lying in the roadway; medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. The driver fled before officers arrived, and investigators believe a maroon sedan with front-end damage was involved. Ferguson Avenue was closed west of Dinuba Boulevard for hours while police worked the scene. As of Monday morning, the driver had not been identified or located.
According to GV Wire, the Visalia Police Department’s Traffic Unit took over the investigation and worked through the night into Monday reviewing surveillance video from businesses and homes near the crash site. Investigators say the footage shows a maroon-colored sedan with visible front-end damage that they believe struck the bicyclist. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, recognizes the vehicle, or has surveillance footage to call the Traffic Unit at (559) 713-4214, or to leave an anonymous tip at (559) 713-4738. The victim’s identity had not been publicly released as of this report.
