Two pedestrians were hospitalized after a hit-and-run driver struck them in a marked crosswalk at Venice and Abbot Kinney boulevards in the Venice neighborhood of Los Angeles on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026. The pedestrians were crossing northbound around 9:10 a.m. when a driver heading eastbound in a white Lexus GX 470 SUV struck them, according to police. The driver allegedly stepped out of the vehicle briefly before getting back in and fleeing the scene without stopping to help. Both victims were taken to a hospital, and one was reported in critical condition. Los Angeles Police Department detectives are still searching for the driver nearly three weeks later.
KTLA reported that LAPD released surveillance images of the SUV, described as a 2006-2015 model fitted with a lift kit and oversized tires, in hopes the public can help identify the driver. According to MyNewsLA, the suspect is described as a man in his late 20s last seen wearing a white T-shirt and brown pants, and LAPD’s West Traffic Division is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with information was asked to contact Detective Curtis Morton or the department’s tip line. The intersection sits along a stretch of Venice Boulevard the city has identified as part of its High Injury Network for pedestrian and bicyclist crashes.
