A 15-year-old girl was struck and killed while crossing the intersection of Bruceville Road and Calvine Road in South Sacramento, California, on the evening of Friday, September 11, 2026. The girl was walking with friends toward a football game near Cosumnes River College when a vehicle allegedly traveling at high speed struck her in the roadway. She was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries days later. The driver remained at the scene, and police say driving under the influence does not appear to have been a factor. The Sacramento Police Department says the investigation into the fatal crash remains active, and no arrests have been made.
According to ABC10, the victim’s mother said a vehicle came over from the third lane of traffic and was driving extremely fast when it struck her daughter. The outlet reported that the girl’s family, godmother and community advocates have called for working traffic cameras and greater police presence at the intersection during events at the nearby college. A candlelight vigil for the teen was planned for September 26 at the crash site. ABC10 reported that authorities have not released the girl’s identity, and the Sacramento Police Department continues to ask anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
