A driver was killed and two passengers were seriously injured Wednesday evening when their car left the southbound Capital City Freeway near Watt Avenue and struck a tree in Sacramento. The single-vehicle crash happened at about 4:16 p.m. in the Fulton Avenue area of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol. All three occupants, all women, were taken to a hospital, where the driver later died from her injuries.
