A 38-year-old man died after a crash at the intersection of 12th Avenue and Grangeville Boulevard in Hanford, California, on Sunday night at about 10:30 p.m. Hanford police say he was found unresponsive and pinned inside a Toyota Prius. Firefighters removed him from the car and he was taken to Adventist Health Hanford, where he later died. The driver of the other vehicle, a Ford F-250, had minor injuries.
According to KMPH, police say the F-250 driver, 61, showed signs of alcohol impairment and failed a series of field sobriety tests. He was arrested and booked into Kings County Jail on a DUI charge. Investigators believe the truck was traveling eastbound on Grangeville Boulevard and failed to stop at a red light, striking the Prius as it traveled northbound on 12th Avenue. These are allegations, and the driver is presumed innocent unless proven otherwise in court. The Union Star also reported on the crash.
