A 32-year-old woman is facing arrest after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop in Fresno’s Tower District and crashing on westbound Highway 180 with two young children in her vehicle, police say. Officers said they received reports of a reckless driver leaving the Tower District on the evening of Saturday, August 29, 2026, and shortly after got another call about the same vehicle striking other vehicles. With the help of police air support, officers tried to pull the driver over before she continued onto westbound Highway 180 and crashed near the Abby Street off-ramp. When officers reached the scene, they found two young children inside the woman’s car who had suffered minor injuries, and the woman was found to be allegedly under the influence and taken into custody.
According to ABC30 (KFSN), which first reported the crash, the woman was taken into custody at the scene after officers determined she was allegedly under the influence. KMPH additionally reported that the driver fled the initial traffic stop in the Tower District before continuing onto Highway 180, where the crash occurred near the Abby Street off-ramp. Both outlets reported that the two children in the vehicle suffered only minor injuries. Fresno police have not released the woman’s name, and the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
