A 66-year-old Antioch man died after the vehicle he was driving struck two parked cars on the 5100 block of Arroyo Way on Saturday, August 29, 2026, according to the Antioch Police Department. Officers responding around 3:34 p.m. found the man, the vehicle’s sole occupant, unconscious inside the car and began providing medical aid until Contra Costa County Fire Protection District paramedics arrived. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. Police have withheld his identity pending notification of next of kin, and no other injuries were reported.
The Antioch Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating what caused the driver to lose control, and the cause of the collision remains unclear, Antioch Herald reported. The department has not said whether a medical episode, distraction or another factor was involved. Anyone with information has been asked to call the department’s non-emergency line or Traffic Collision Investigator Officer Rollins. Solo-vehicle crashes into parked cars on residential streets like this one can still raise significant liability questions for a driver’s surviving family, even when the driver is the only person hurt.
