A 48-year-old Post Falls, Idaho man was injured Sunday afternoon when the car he was driving rolled over on State Route 97 north of Ellensburg. The Washington State Patrol says the crash happened around 12:56 p.m. near milepost 157, about 20 miles north of the city, when the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The 2018 Nissan Sentra left the roadway and rolled before coming to rest, and the driver, identified as Michael A. Wegner, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Troopers say intoxicants were allegedly a factor in the crash, and Wegner is facing DUI charges.
According to Source ONE News, the vehicle was traveling southbound on Highway 97 when it left the road and rolled, sustaining total-loss damage before it was towed from the scene. The outlet reported that Wegner was wearing his seatbelt and was transported to Kittitas Valley Healthcare in Ellensburg. A second outlet, the Daily Record, confirmed the same location, time and cause, reporting that speed and improper equipment also contributed to the crash. No other vehicles were involved and no fatalities were reported.
