A late-night crash in a Northwest Austin park has left a 19-year-old dead and his 19-year-old friend under arrest on a DUI charge. Austin Police say the single-vehicle wreck happened around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Northwest Park near 7000 Ardath Street. The passenger, identified by police as Miles Ellis Longbine, was rushed to a hospital by friends but was pronounced dead a little over an hour later. Officers say the driver, King Anthony Henry, had allegedly been drinking before the crash and was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence by a minor.
According to FOX 7 Austin, investigators with the Austin Police Department’s Vehicular Homicide Unit have not ruled out filing additional charges against Henry as the investigation continues. APD’s own case report lists the wreck as the city’s 59th fatal crash of 2026, under case number 26-2551539. Anyone with information has been asked to call APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit or Capital Area Crime Stoppers. No further details about what caused the vehicle to crash have been released.
