A driver and a passenger were killed early Wednesday, September 2, 2026, after their vehicle rolled over on Loop 1604 on San Antonio’s West Side. Police said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck another vehicle, left the roadway, and collided with a median before going down an embankment and rolling over several times. Both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the victims have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
According to the San Antonio Express-News, the crash occurred just before 1:30 a.m. in the 6100 block of Northwest Loop 1604, near Culebra Road. The San Antonio Police Department said the investigation is ongoing and preliminary findings could change as more information becomes available. KSAT reported that SAPD described the driver as having struck another vehicle before leaving the road and rolling down the embankment. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the victims’ identities and official causes of death.
