A motorcyclist has died from injuries suffered in a crash in East El Paso, Texas, near the intersection of Pebble Hills Boulevard and Castle Woods Drive. The collision happened Monday afternoon, August 31, 2026, when a Mazda sedan turning left across traffic allegedly failed to yield the right of way to a Kawasaki motorcycle traveling westbound on Pebble Hills Boulevard at a high rate of speed. The impact threw the motorcyclist from his bike, and he was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later identified by police as 21-year-old Eric Scott Spink, and authorities confirmed he died from his injuries. The crash marks the 40th traffic fatality in El Paso this year.
According to KVIA, El Paso police said the crash was reported around 3:22 p.m. and that the El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigators unit responded to the scene. Police cited failure to yield the right of way and high speed as contributing factors, but the investigation remains active and no charges have been announced. KVIA reported that this year’s fatality count is roughly on pace with 2025, when 41 traffic deaths had occurred by the same date. Motorcyclists are especially vulnerable in left-turn collisions like this one, where oncoming drivers often misjudge a motorcycle’s speed or fail to see it at all.
