Five people were taken to hospitals after a crash involving five vehicles — including an American Medical Response ambulance — at U.S. Highway 395 and Auburn Avenue in Adelanto, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. The major-injury crash was reported at about 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15. Deputies said a total of eight people were inside the five vehicles.
As reported by Victor Valley News, three patients were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Apple Valley and two to Victor Valley Global Medical Center in Victorville; firefighters also reported a small fire in one of the vehicles. Those involved were identified by the sheriff’s department as a 42-year-old Hesperia woman, two Hesperia teenagers, a 46-year-old Victorville woman, a 26-year-old Perris woman, a 20-year-old Adelanto man and two AMR emergency medical technicians. According to KTLA, the AMR paramedics immediately began treating the injured despite being involved in the collision, and no fatalities were reported. Highway 395 was temporarily shut down in both directions. The cause of the crash remains under investigation; anyone with information is asked to call the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station at 760-552-6800.
