A woman struck and killed by a vehicle on North Lamar Boulevard in North Austin has been identified as 64-year-old Margaret Govea, according to the Austin Police Department. Police said the collision happened Sunday, Aug. 9, at about 11:18 p.m. in the 8500 block of North Lamar Boulevard, where Govea was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to APD, the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation; no charges have been announced. As reported by CBS Austin, the case is being handled by APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit and marks Austin’s 50th fatal crash of 2026.
