A 25-year-old man died at the scene of a two-vehicle crash at Road 28½ and Avenue 15 in Madera County on Sunday evening, just after 6 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. A 17-year-old passenger in the Nissan was taken to Valley Children’s Hospital with minor injuries, and the other driver also had minor injuries. CHP says alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
GV Wire reports that CHP found a 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLS550, driven by a 32-year-old Madera man, allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign on northbound Road 28½ and entered the path of a 2013 Nissan Altima traveling westbound on Avenue 15, which had the right-of-way. The Mercedes overturned and struck a brick wall, and the Nissan driver was ejected and was not wearing a seat belt. The Mercedes driver was arrested at the scene and booked into the Madera County Jail; the charges were not specified. KMPH (FOX26) reported the same details, and the investigation is ongoing.
