CBS News San Francisco reported that Alameda County Fire and Livermore-Pleasanton Fire crews also responded to help clear the scene. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call CHP’s Dublin office at 925-828-0466 and ask for Officer Hartman or Officer Purl. What the Law Says

California Vehicle Code Section 21650 requires drivers to stay on the right half of the roadway except when passing, turning left, or avoiding an obstruction. Mountain House Road is a two-lane rural route where a driver who drifts across the center line can put oncoming traffic, including large commercial trucks, at serious risk. When a driver fails to maintain their lane and causes a head-on or side-impact collision, they can be held civilly liable for the resulting injuries and deaths.

Under California Code of Civil Procedure Section 377.60, the surviving spouse, children, or other qualifying heirs of someone killed in a crash like this one may file a wrongful death claim against the at-fault driver or their employer. Such a claim can seek compensation for the loss of financial support, companionship, and other damages the family has suffered. Families do not have to pay anything upfront, and a personal injury attorney can review the case for free, with no fee unless the case succeeds.
