Two people were killed and several others were injured after a semi-truck slammed into a chain-reaction pileup on the westbound 10 Freeway in Ontario, California, just before midnight on March 29, 2026. The big rig, traveling in the slow lane, rear-ended a car and then struck another vehicle while California Highway Patrol officers were already working an earlier two-vehicle crash at the same spot. Seven vehicles in all were caught up in the crash, and every westbound lane had to be shut down for nearly six hours. The truck driver allegedly fled without stopping, and he remained a fugitive for more than five months before he was finally taken into custody.
According to Fox 11 Los Angeles, a witness told investigators the big rig hit a disabled vehicle so hard that it “split one of the vehicles in half,” and CHP has not publicly released the names of the two people killed. The Tampa Free Press reports that the driver, identified as Chamkaur Singh, was arrested by Moab, Utah police on September 1, 2026, after being pulled over for speeding in a semi-truck, ending a nationwide manhunt tied to a California Highway Patrol warrant for homicide-vehicular manslaughter. Singh is now being held at the Grand County Jail while he awaits extradition back to California to face charges. Anyone hurt in a multi-vehicle truck crash like this one may have the right to pursue compensation for medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering.
