A 15-year-old was seriously injured and a passenger suffered minor injuries Wednesday morning when their all-terrain vehicle crashed on a dirt road in far East El Paso County, Texas. The teen was driving a blue Yamaha ATV at high speed around 9:06 a.m. when it went over a dirt berm in the 13500 block of Timothy Drive, near Desert Wind School, causing the driver to lose control. Both riders were taken to a hospital, with the driver’s injuries described as serious. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office’s Special Traffic Investigators unit responded and took over the crash investigation, which remains active.

Sheriff Oscar Ugarte said the incident “is a serious reminder that ATVs can be dangerous, particularly when operated at high speeds,” and urged parents and riders to wear proper protective equipment and operate the vehicles responsibly, according to the outlet.
