A Chevrolet Silverado pickup collided with a semi-truck on eastbound Interstate 80 near Penryn Road in Placer County on Sunday, October 25, 2026. According to the California Highway Patrol, the pickup went up an embankment, left the roadway and rolled onto its roof, coming to rest in the #3 lane. The male driver of the pickup was reportedly trapped and had to be extricated by emergency crews, and he suffered major injuries. A female passenger in the pickup had minor injuries.
CBS Sacramento reported that, based on a preliminary investigation, CHP said the Silverado driver made an “unsafe turning movement” and struck the front tire of the semi-truck. FOX40 placed the crash just east of Newcastle Road, and KCRA reported that lanes were blocked on I-80 due to the collision, according to Caltrans. CHP urged drivers to expect delays, use alternate routes and use caution. The circumstances remain under investigation, and the cause has not been finally confirmed.
