A 14-year-old girl was hospitalized Friday afternoon after a vehicle struck her while she was riding an electric scooter on Kuykendahl Road in far northern Harris County, near Spring, Texas. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene following the collision. Emergency crews took the teenager to a hospital for treatment, and her current condition has not been released. The crash was the second in less than a week in the same area involving a child riding an e-scooter.
According to Click2Houston, the crash happened in the 26200 block of Kuykendahl Road and was investigated by the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, which confirmed the driver remained at the scene and that the investigation is ongoing. The outlet reported that deputies had responded to another e-scooter collision involving a 10-year-old girl just days earlier, on Tuesday, at Lincolns Meadow Drive and Dukes Run Drive in Spring. The Houston Chronicle also reported on the string of e-scooter crashes, noting that Harris County officials have warned of a sharp rise in injuries involving e-bikes, e-scooters and electric motorcycles among young riders. No citations or charges connected to the Kuykendahl Road crash have been announced.
