A 27-year-old father was killed and his 3-year-old daughter was injured on September 12, 2026, when a pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic and struck their sedan head-on on FM 725 in New Braunfels, Texas. New Braunfels police say the truck’s driver, 25-year-old Rafael Alejandro Arreguin-Ramirez, showed signs of intoxication at the scene. His passenger, 23-year-old Alejandro Aguillen-Acosta, allegedly fled the crash and hid in a nearby yard before officers found him. Both men were arrested and now face charges of intoxication manslaughter, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and evading arrest.
According to KTSA, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged detainers against both men on September 13 while they were held at the Guadalupe County Jail, with the Department of Homeland Security saying both had allegedly entered the country illegally from Mexico. The outlet reported that the victim’s young daughter suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The criminal case remains active alongside separate immigration proceedings against the two men.
