A tractor-trailer driver has been charged with manslaughter after a crash killed a Garland woman on an Interstate 30 ramp in Mesquite, Texas, early Friday morning, September 4, 2026. Police say 33-year-old Lisa Maldonado was driving a Chevrolet Equinox SUV when it collided with a Freightliner pulling a 53-foot trailer on the ramp connecting westbound I-30 to northbound I-635. Maldonado was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The truck driver, 39-year-old Khasan Begbaev of Brooklyn, New York, was not injured and was taken into custody.
According to WFAA, Mesquite police say Begbaev now faces one count of manslaughter in connection with the crash. The Mesquite Police Department said in a release that its Traffic Unit’s investigation into the collision is ongoing, and officials have not released additional details about how the two vehicles came to collide on the interstate ramp.
