A three-vehicle crash south of Friona, Texas, left one truck driver dead and two other people injured on Wednesday afternoon. The wreck happened around 2 p.m. at the intersection of State Highway 86 and State Highway 214 in Parmer County. According to Texas DPS, a Ford Expedition traveling east on SH 86 allegedly failed to yield at a stop sign before entering the intersection, striking a southbound tractor-trailer. That truck was pushed into the northbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a second tractor-trailer, killing its driver at the scene.
NewsChannel 10 reported that DPS identified the driver killed as Timothy James Holst, 59, of Rowley, Iowa. ABC7 Amarillo reported that the SUV driver, Shayanne Marie Clover, 30, of Garden City, Kansas, suffered serious injuries and was scheduled to be airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock, while the second truck driver, Jose Omar Cano, 51, of Olton, was treated for minor injuries. The outlet noted the roadway was wet at the time of the crash. The Texas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
