One person was hospitalized after a Sun Metro bus collided with a four-door sedan and rolled onto its side in Northeast El Paso, Texas, on the evening of Thursday, August 27, 2026. The crash happened just before 8 p.m. near the interchange of Gateway Boulevard South and Loop 375 at Transmountain. Emergency crews transported one person to a hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. El Paso Police Department responded to the scene, and Sun Metro dispatched a backup bus to continue the route.
According to KVIA, this was the second crash involving a Sun Metro bus in the city that same Thursday; an earlier collision near Edgemere and Airway Boulevard sent four other people to the hospital. The City of El Paso and Sun Metro said in a statement that “safety is always a top priority” and asked the public to slow down and stay alert around buses making frequent stops. The cause of the Transmountain-area crash has not been publicly released, and it is unclear whether either driver was cited.
