An 18-year-old passenger was left with no brain activity after the vehicle he was riding in rolled over multiple times near Rodd Field Road and Adler Drive in Corpus Christi, Texas, in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 30, 2026. Police say the 19-year-old driver lost control of the car around 2:23 a.m. after striking a curb and a pole in the 8100 block of Rodd Field Road, where the vehicle flipped into a ditch. The passenger was ejected and suffered severe brain trauma, including a brain bleed and hemorrhage to the brain stem; doctors determined he had no current brain activity and was in a vegetative state. According to KRIS 6 News, the driver, identified as 19-year-old Tryton Dyckman, admitted to police that he had been racing another vehicle south down Rodd Field Road from Yorktown Boulevard when the road ended. A witness reported that the Camaro was traveling over 100 mph, and Dyckman allegedly told officers he had consumed approximately four shots of vodka and rum before driving.
