A woman from Bedias and a man from San Antonio were killed Monday morning in a head-on crash on FM 2620 in rural Grimes County, Texas. The collision happened around 7:30 a.m. when a northbound Nissan Armada crossed the center line and struck a southbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup head-on. Three children riding in the Armada and an adult passenger in the Silverado were airlifted to a Houston-area hospital with serious injuries. The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating what caused the SUV to cross into oncoming traffic.
According to fox44news.com, the Armada’s driver, 41-year-old Katie Harper of Bedias, and the Silverado’s driver, 49-year-old Gilbert Urban Jr. of San Antonio, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The outlet reported that three boys ages 9, 11 and 14 were flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, along with an adult passenger from the pickup identified as 28-year-old Keith Hilton. Three medical helicopters responded to the crash site north of Bedias near State Highway 30. DPS has not yet publicly released a cause for why the Armada allegedly crossed into the opposing lane.
