A high-speed crash in the Barrio Logan neighborhood of San Diego left one person dead and two others with serious, life-threatening injuries early Saturday morning. Police say a 2018 Dodge Charger carrying three occupants was traveling eastbound on Harbor Drive around 3 a.m. when it veered to the right for reasons that remain under investigation. The Charger struck a parked Kia and several fixed objects before all three occupants were ejected from the vehicle. One occupant suffered a traumatic amputation of the right foot and was later pronounced dead at a hospital; the other two suffered severe injuries, including a second amputation, burns, lacerations and life-threatening head trauma.
According to NBC 7 San Diego, the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating the crash and suspects the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Police said the Charger was traveling at a high rate of speed before it veered off course, according to CBS 8 San Diego, which cited SDPD Officer David O’Brien. No names have been released, and no arrests had been announced as of the latest reports. Anyone with information is asked to call the San Diego Police Department or San Diego Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
