A man suffered serious injuries Sunday afternoon, September 20, 2026, after an off-road vehicle crash on a rural property in the 1600-1800 block of Old Decatur Road, north of Decatur, Texas. Emergency crews were dispatched around 2:15 p.m. and launched a drone to help locate the patient on the property, finding him shortly after arriving on scene. Air Evac Lifeteam 68 flew the man to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital, a Level I trauma center in Fort Worth. The crash drew a multi-agency response, including Wise County EMS, Decatur Fire Department, the Wise County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers.
According to Hoodline, which cited reporting from the Wise County Messenger, the man’s name and exact condition had not been released as of the report. Wise County EMS Chief Randall Preuninger told the Messenger that the patient sustained serious injuries in the crash. No cause of the crash had been determined, and the incident remained under review by local authorities. Because the crash happened on private property rather than public land, it is not yet clear whether Texas’s off-highway vehicle safety equipment rules applied to the ride.
