A 14-year-old Lago Vista High School student, identified by his family and school district as Kashton Vallee, died from injuries suffered in a single-vehicle e-motorcycle crash on the evening of Friday, September 11, 2026, near the intersection of Outpost Trace and Thunderbird Street in Lago Vista, Texas. Police say a preliminary investigation found that Vallee was riding with friends when he lost control of the e-motorcycle and crashed. He was not wearing a helmet or any other protective gear at the time, according to authorities. First responders performed life-saving measures at the scene, but Vallee died from his injuries.
FOX 7 Austin reported that the Lago Vista Police Department extended its condolences to Vallee’s family, friends and classmates, and that Lago Vista ISD Superintendent Dr. Mindy Curran called the loss “an unimaginable loss for our Viking family.” CBS Austin reported that no other vehicles were involved in the crash, and that the Jonestown Police Department, the Travis County Sheriff’s Office and the Travis County ESD1 Fire Department assisted Lago Vista police with traffic control and scene security while investigators worked the scene. Lago Vista police said they are using the tragedy to urge parents to confirm whether their children’s e-bikes are legally classified as e-motorcycles, and to require helmets and other safety equipment. The Lago Vista Police Department’s investigation remains active.
