A head-on crash on FM 725 in New Braunfels left one driver dead and a young child injured on Saturday evening, September 12, 2026. Police say a pickup truck and a sedan collided in the 2500 block of FM 725 around 7 p.m. The sedan’s driver, a 27-year-old New Braunfels man, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 3-year-old passenger riding in the sedan suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital in San Antonio for treatment.
According to FOX 7 Austin, the pickup truck’s driver, 25-year-old Rafael Alejandro Arreguin-Ramirez, showed signs of intoxication and was arrested on charges of intoxication manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His passenger, 23-year-old Alejandro Aguillen Acosta, allegedly fled the scene on foot and was found hiding in a nearby garage before officers took him into custody; he faces charges of evading arrest and criminal trespass of a habitation. FM 725 was closed for roughly five hours while the New Braunfels Police Department Traffic Unit investigated. Police say the investigation remains active and additional charges may be pending.
