A 17-year-old motorcyclist was killed Thursday morning, September 3, 2026, in a three-vehicle crash on State Highway 46 near Stoney Creek Drive in Spring Branch, Texas, just outside Smithson Valley High School. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the teen was riding a red Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle westbound on SH 46 around 9 a.m. when he allegedly failed to control his speed and traveled between a Ford pickup and a Chevrolet Silverado, striking both vehicles. He was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the westbound bar ditch, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported among the drivers of the two trucks.
KSAT reported that the teenager was a student at Smithson Valley High School, though DPS has not released his name because he was a minor. Comal ISD confirmed the student’s death and extended condolences to the family, making counseling and student support services available to those affected. State Highway 46 West at Stoney Creek was closed in both directions while troopers investigated the scene, and DPS said its investigation into the crash remains active.
