A seven-vehicle pileup sent three people to the hospital Saturday afternoon, September 5, 2026, after a speeding SUV crossed the median at a busy Plano intersection. Police said a silver Ford Explorer traveling at a high rate of speed on eastbound East Parker Road crossed into the westbound lanes, struck a pedestrian standing in the median, and then continued the wrong way before slamming into five vehicles stopped at a red light near Avenue K. The Explorer’s driver, the pedestrian, and another motorist were all taken to local hospitals; their conditions have not been released. The Plano Police Traffic Unit is actively investigating what caused the SUV to cross the median.
FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth reported that Plano police and Plano Fire-Rescue crews responded to the intersection of East Parker Road and Avenue K around 3:15 p.m., and that investigators had not yet determined whether speed, a mechanical failure, a medical emergency or impairment caused the SUV to veer across the median. CBS News Texas separately confirmed that three people — the SUV driver, the pedestrian and a third motorist — were hospitalized, and reported that the crash remains under investigation by the Plano Police Department.
