A motorcyclist was killed early Friday morning in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Avenue 54 and Tyler Street in the Coachella Valley, Riverside County. The crash occurred at approximately 5 a.m. Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Thermal Station responded and found the rider down in the roadway, where they administered emergency aid before paramedics arrived. The motorcyclist was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
According to KESQ, the Coachella Community Action Team has assumed the investigation into the crash, and authorities have not yet determined what caused the collision. KESQ reported that investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role, though the cause remains under review. The victim’s identity has not been officially released pending notification of next of kin, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
