A 43-year-old Moreno Valley man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian hospitalized with major injuries in Santa Ana, according to the Santa Ana Police Department. Police said the crash happened on July 27 around 7:23 a.m. near Auto Mall Drive and Edinger Avenue, where the driver of a black pickup truck towing a red trailer allegedly struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.
The Santa Ana Police Department identified the suspect as Rigoberto Martinez Villalpando, 43, of Moreno Valley. As reported by KTLA, officers later spotted the suspect’s vehicle in Moreno Valley, and he was taken into custody after a search warrant was served at his home, police announced on Aug. 13. The pedestrian was hospitalized with major injuries. The case remains under investigation, and no conviction has been reported.
