What the Law Says

Texas Transportation Code Chapter 550 requires the driver of a vehicle involved in a crash that results in injury or death to stop at the scene, return to it if needed, and render reasonable aid. Failing to do so can carry serious criminal penalties and may also be relevant in a civil case.

Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code Chapter 71 governs wrongful death claims, allowing certain surviving family members to seek compensation when a death is caused by another party’s wrongful act or neglect. Deadlines apply, so families facing this kind of loss should learn their options early. We work on a no fee unless we win basis.
