Injuries reported in Edinburg expressway crash involving tractor-trailer
Texas Transportation Code Chapter 545 sets the rules of the road, including the duty to drive within a single lane and to control a vehicle’s speed and position. A commercial truck driver who allegedly leaves the roadway and strikes vehicles parked on the shoulder may be examined under these rules.
Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code Chapter 33 governs proportionate responsibility. Under it, fault can be divided among the parties, and a claimant’s recovery is reduced by their percentage of responsibility and barred if it is greater than 50 percent. Injured people, including parents acting for injured children, have limited time to act, so it helps to learn your options early.
